Clia issues alert over fraudulent calls to agents

Agent members of Clia UK & Ireland have been warned to beware of fraudulent phone calls purporting to come from the organisation.

Clia issued an email alert to agents, urging them to exercise caution if they have any doubts about the calls they receive.

“We have been made aware by a number of our member travel agencies that they have received fraudulent telephone calls from individuals claiming to be calling on behalf of Clia UK & Ireland,” Clia said.

Members were then asked to confirm a number of details about their businesses.

“We would like to confirm that these are not genuine and would encourage you to exercise caution if you have any doubt as to the nature of the call you receive claiming to be from Clia UK & Ireland,” the cruise industry trade body said.

It issued the alert to members detailing the profile and contact details of its seven-strong management team led by director Andy Harmer.

“Rest assured we are taking steps to make sure no further fraudulent calls are made in our name,” Clia added.
