A former US coast guard rear admiral has been named as president and chief executive of the global Cruise Lines International Association.
Thomas Ostebo takes up the role on July 6 following Christine Duffy leaving in January to head Carnival Cruise Lines.
He was most recently director of strategic management for the coast guard, where he supported strategy and budget policy.
Global Clia chairman Adam Goldstein (Royal Caribbean) said the appointment had been made after a thorough search process.
“Tom brings years of outstanding maritime and strategic business leadership experience to this important position that leads the cruise industry’s global association.”
Ostebo said: “This appointment is a perfect next step in my career as it allows me to leverage my experiences and passions, from leading large complex teams to advocating for marine resources.”
