Jamaica swings support behind UK agent homeworkers

The Jamaica Tourist Board has created a dedicated role supporting homeworking agents in the UK as it steps up support for the sector.

Donovan Donaldson, previously business development officer for the southern UK, is taking on the newly-created role as BDO for homeworking sellers.

His new remit includes supporting 50 homeworking groups in the UK through targeted training, hybrid fam trips and exclusive resources.

Sean-Pierre Webster has joined the team to step in to the role of BDO for the southern UK.

The JTB is introducing first-of-its-kind hybrid fam trips designed specifically for home-based agents.

They will allow participants to balance work commitments during the mornings while exploring Jamaica.

Eight trips are planned next year showcasing new properties such as the Riu Aquarelle and Princess Resorts. A special trip is also planned for the Jamaica Carnival.

Other initiatives to further support homeworkers include:

  • Monthly clinics: Regional networking events featuring ‘sensory Jamaica’ experiences where agents can bring clients to discover the destination.
  • Consumer show packs: Agents participating in consumer shows will receive financial contributions, promotional materials, brochures, and branded banners.
  • Webinars and training: Regular sessions on key topics, including villas, city and beach tourism, and new product offerings, keeping agents informed on Jamaica’s diverse experiences.

Top-performing agents will be recognised and rewarded throughout the year while the JTB will hold its annual agent roadshow in June 2025 and the Jamaica Travel Market will make a comeback in October.

UK & northern Europe director Elizabeth Fox said: “We are incredibly proud of our trade relationships. We aim to empower trade professionals and enhance their ability to promote Jamaica.

“Our commitment to supporting the trade is unwavering, and our dedicated team is passionate about fostering collaboration and driving success together.”
