Croatia set to reassure trade

Croatia’s minister of tourism Ivan Herek is visiting London this month in a bid to reassure tour operators it is safe for holidaymakers to visit his country.

The recent conflict in Kosovo and the 1991-95 war in the former Yugoslavia have virtually wiped out tourism from the UK.

However, before 1991, when Croatia was still a region of Yugoslavia, it attracted almost 500,000 Britons a year.

Herek plans to discuss his long-term commitment to win back British holidaymakers, his country’s investment in infrastructure, and the help he can provide to UK tour operators.

He will be meeting operators at the Radisson SAS Portman Hotel in London on June 23.
