Jules Verne recruits Michelle Laverick as head of marketing

Jules Verne has appointed Michelle Laverick as head of marketing, following the small group escorted tour operator’s brand revitalisation in January.

The company said Laverick will “spearhead the execution of the leading travel specialist’s new brand identity which builds on its 46-year heritage”.

She joins Jules Verne from her previous role as commercial director at Marketing Radar where she supported marketing teams across the travel sector to understand more about their customer and prospect base, and how to use customer data to enhance the experience and implement automated customer journeys.

Laverick also brings a wealth of trade experience, having held roles at Collette, Wendy Wu Tours, Explore and Inghams.

In her new role, she will be responsible for developing and executing consumer and trade marketing strategies to promote Jule’s Verne’s tours.

Debbie O’Neill, Jules Verne’s managing director, said: “As we develop our new brand identity it is critical our marketing communicates Jules Verne’s fascinating history and pioneering spirit, while differentiating us from others in the travel space.

“Leaning into Michelle’s expertise across the touring landscape, we’re excited to have her on board as we focus on helping audiences understand the Jules Verne brand better from the outset and engage with us on a deeper level than before.

“Michelle’s inclusive and supportive leadership style also aligns with Jules Verne’s values, therefore we’re confident she will inspire our marketing team and deliver brilliant results.”

Laverick added: “As a pioneer in the small group travel space, Jules Verne has been a company I’ve admired throughout my career.

“Leading the marketing strategy at this pivotal time is a fantastic opportunity and I am eager to find new ways to inspire more customers to embark on extraordinary journeys with Jules Verne.

“I thoroughly enjoyed by time at Marketing Radar over the last few years, but due to changes in personal circumstances including my daughter moving away from home to attend university, I needed a hybrid working solution – this wonderful opportunity with Jules Verne will provide that.”
