Ten new kennels will be created for dogs and cats as part of a refurbishment of Cunard flagship Queen Mary 2.
A lamp post and fire hydrant will be installed on the area of deck reserved for dog walking as part of the kennels development.
The ship can currently carry up to 12 dogs and cats on transatlantic crossings.
Fifteen solo cabins are being added to the ship as well as 30 Britannia Club balcony cabins.
Further developments are due to be revealed over the coming months, according to the line.
These will build on the flagship’s strengths as “the epitome of luxury on a grand scale”.
The ship will enter dry dock in Germany for 25 days from on May 27, 2016 for the work to take place.
Cunard marketing director Angus Struthers said: “These enhancements are just the beginning of an exciting revitalisation for Queen Mary 2, and we look forward to making more announcements about this impressive refit in the coming months.”
The additional accommodation went on sale today (July 15) for summer sailings from late June 2016.
