Travelodge raises £500,000 for cancer charity

More than £500,000 has been raised by Travelodge for Macmillan Cancer Support since forming a partnership with the charity in 2013.

Fundraising activity has ranged from climbing Ben Nevis to build a hotel room at the summit, to a week-long survival challenge.

Contributions have also come from hotel guests and through donations via Pennies, an electronic donation box. This invites customers to make a donation of 50p when booking online.

The 500-strong chain’s UK operations director, Debbie Husband, said: “During the last two years, Travelodge teams from all corners of the UK have worked together to host thousands of weird and wonderful fundraising events to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

“It has been a great team effort and we are all delighted to have reached the £500,000 milestone.

“We would like to sincerely thank our customers and suppliers for their support and donations too.”

Sally Hill, from Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “We are so grateful for all the support Travelodge customers and staff give to Macmillan. Their dedication and enthusiasm will ensure that no one has to face cancer alone and we look forward to their continued support.”
