Tried and tested sun and sea hotspots continue to be the preferred holiday destinations for British holidaymakers, according to latest data from bedbank Hotelbeds.

Spain remains the top country for UK holidaymakers, with Majorca as the top destination, followed by the US, with Orlando in Florida being the top choice.

Greece still ranks third in the list of preferences for British travellers despite of the country’s uncertain economic and political situation which have led to a slowdown in new bookings.

Turkey, Portugal and Italy make up the other top destinations for British tourists.

Theme and water parks continue to be a must on the to-do-list for British holidaymakers while more culturally rich options such as museums and sightseeing tours rank second as the most demanded activities.

Hotelbeds managing director Carlos Muñoz said: “As the leading source market for Hotelbeds, the British market is a good benchmark for global travel trends.

“In this regard, our data for the current summer season indicate that it will be another record year for many destinations in the Mediterranean.

“We continue working hard to offer our customers differentiated products and exclusive conditions and the quality of our portfolio certainly reflects the significant improvements we have been making worldwide.”
