Barrhead Travel is to invest more than £1 million in opening two new shops in Edinburgh.
The Scottish agency will create 20 new jobs between the new stores, which will be opened in Edinburgh Airport and Hanover Street. The airport-based shop will be land-side.
The new high street shop will also have a foreign exchange bureau. Both additions are part of Barrhead’s growth plans, which also includes its first branch in England, although the location of that store is yet to be revealed.
Sharon Munro, chief executive of Barrhead Travel, said: “Business growth and reinvestment continues to be front of mind for us. We want to be accessible to our customers and these new shops will be an excellent addition to our already impressive portfolio of stores.
“The branch at Edinburgh Airport means that, in addition to sourcing travellers’ holidays, we will also have a unit on site which can assist our Corporate Travel accounts’ travellers too.
“We are looking to recruit people with sales or travel experience to deliver an unparalleled travel offering for our customers. Our team members are the faces of our company and we’ve built a very strong network of what we believe to be people at the forefront of the industry.”
Gordon Dewar, chief executive at Edinburgh Airport, said: “We are delighted to welcome Barrhead Travel to Edinburgh Airport. Both businesses are aligned in their desire to enhance the customer experience by offering both choice and value.
“I am confident that with Barrhead Travel’s expert knowledge and customer service our passengers will take advantage of this service.”
