Crystal Cruises boss ‘on a mission’ to further expand line

Crystal Cruises is likely to announce further expansion plans in the next six months.

President and chief executive, Edie Rodriguez, said the recent announcements of three new ocean ships, two river vessels, a yacht and Dreamliner were “hard to fathom and overwhelming”, but promised there was “much more to come”.

The line, which currently has two ocean ships, announced its launch into aviation and the river and yachting sectors in July.

Speaking at the line’s sales gala on Crystal Symphony in St Petersburg, Russia, Rodriguez said: “I’m on a mission to move Crystal forward. In the next six months we are likely to announce additional things. There’s much, much more to come.”

Rodriguez has previously hinted at further growth in the yacht and river product.

The line has been guarded on its plans for the river cruise sector, only revealing the countries in Europe its two ships will sail in.

“We aren’t releasing too much information on river because of competition reasons. We’re only saying six countries and 70 suite vessels.”

The river product goes on sale on December 1 and Rodriguez said itineraries would be released in the coming months.
