A summer programme of charter flights Glasgow to Genoa is being laid on by Scottish agency Barrhead Travel.
The weekly departures on Sundays will link to MSC Cruises’ departures from the Italian city.
A total of 1,862 seats will be available from Glasgow on the route for 19 weeks between May 29 and October 2 next year.
A British Airways aircraft has been chartered to run the Sunday service.
Cruises offered by Barrhead Travel include the Italian line’s Allegrissimo all-inclusive drinks package.
Barrhead’s existing charter schedule includes flights from Glasgow to Malaga, Majorca, Barcelona and Venice.
Chief executive, Sharon Munro, said: “By chartering a wide variety of flights to some of the most popular holiday destinations, we’re able to offer customers across Scotland an even bigger selection of fantastic travel options.
“Our aim is to give our customers exceptional choice and value and we believe adding Genoa to our charter portfolio will be a great success.
“This new route provides another excellent link for those traveling onward via our high quality MSC Cruises and demonstrates our commitment to making the cruise experience even better for holidaymakers.”
Glasgow airport commercial director, Francois Bourienne, said: “Genoa is a fantastic new addition to our ever-growing list of destinations that we serve from Glasgow, and it’s sure to go down well with our customers. We look forward to working with Barrhead Travel to ensure the success of this excellent new cruise route.”
