Forte unveils millennium packages

Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts is also claiming to be offering a competitive rate of £199 per room per night at three of its London properties – the May Fair Inter-Continental on Stratton Street, the Hotel Inter-Continental on Hyde Park and the Churchill Inter-Continental on Portman Square.

The rate is valid from December 26 to January 3 inclusive. For an extra £99 per night, guests can upgrade to a Club Inter-Continental floor room or to a deluxe suite.

The chain says this shows savings of up to 35% on published rates. It has named the offer the Affordable Millennium programme.

UK regional vice-president operations John O’Carroll said: “With so many fantastically expensive millennium programmes on the market, we decided to offer the consumer a real millennium break.”

Marriott has set a millennium rate of £500 per person per night for its hotel at County Hall, London.

The rate is based on two adults sharing with a minimum of three nights’ stay.

The Lanesborough on Park Lane has created two millennium black-tie party packages priced at £800 and £2,000 per person for the night of December 31. The Savoy is also hosting a millennium party with prices from £7,000 per couple.

FORTE has unveiled rates for two-night millennium packages at six of its London properties.

Packages, which include bed and breakfast and VAT, start at £99 for single occupancy and £198 for double at the Strand Palace.

The group is closing catering services from 10pm on the night of December 31 at its London Signature properties to allow as many of its staff as possible to celebrate.

London regional director Paul Schnepper claimed that, unlike some hotels in the capital, Forte was not being greedy. “There are no rip-off rates for the millennium in our hotels,” he said.

Some of the hotels in the collection are laying on special parties, including the Regent Plaza where its Callaghan’s Bar will be open for 36hrs, with breakfast served at 3am-4am on January 1.
