ACTION 2000, the Government body set up to tackle the millennium bug problem, has praised Thistle Hotels for the action it has taken to avoid technology glitches come January1.
The hospitality industry came under fire 18 months ago after Action 2000 research showed it was lagging behind in its preparations.
But the group said that now Thistle had done as much as possible to ensure there will be minimal disruption when 2000 comes round.
Thistle Hotels’ Year 2000 project manager Alex Rudd said: “We have audited all our equipment, including communications equipment, security and building systems and computers, and replaced and upgraded anything that could not cope with the bug.
“We are now happy to say that we are as ready as possible for the changeover to the new millennium.”
