Unijet meets demand for weddings product

UNIJET has combined its wedding packages into a single stand-alone brochure for the first time after seeing a huge increase in demand for the product.

General manager marketing Owen Whitehead said some wedding destinations have increased fourfold although he refused to give exact figures. “This is a particularly good time to launch. We are expecting a massive boom in weddings in 2000,” said Whitehead.

In addition to the 11 destinations that previously featured in its Winter Sun, Summer Sun, Florida and Caribbean brochures, the operator has expanded the programme with the introduction of Hawaii and Cyprus, its first short-haul destination.

Weddings have to be booked in conjunction with a holiday featured in one of the existing brochures. Prices start at £95 although free weddings available for arrivals in October ’99 and June 2000 at the Rendezvous Hotel in St Lucia.

Vow renewal ceremonies are also available at all of the hotels.

“We expect to see a growth in demand for vow renewals just as much as weddings,” said Whitehead.

The 39-page brochure includes three pages on legal issues plus a page on planning your wedding. “Under each hotel is a list of what’s included in the price and the ceremony location,” Whitehead added.

“One of the attractions of getting married abroad is that someone else handles all the complications. We want to make it as easy as possible for people.”

As well as the more traditional beach locations, the brochure also offers weddings in a balloon or a helicopter over Las Vegas and Disney weddings at various Disney locations.
