Artemis completes Ponant acquisition

Artemis has completed the acquisition of French cruise line Ponant.

For the last three years the company has been owned by private equity firm Bridgepoint. The line believes the new owner will help drive growth.

This year, Ponant will carry almost 30,000 passengers with a turnover of more than €145 million.

Jean-Emmanuel Sauvée, co-founder and chief executive of Ponant, said: “In the last three years, together we have launched and financed new ships, opened new offices in Australia and China, and acquired a leading player in the American cultural cruise market.

“Today we are entering a new phase with a long-term shareholder who, like Bridgepoint, shares our vision and ambitions for Ponant as a global player in the high-end cruise market.”

The line said the new owners would help “ramp-up its internationalisation” and consolidate its positions in France, Switzerland and Belgium.
