Clia invites agents to ‘join the cruise revolution’

Clia UK & Ireland’s 10th annual conference will encourage agents to ‘join the cruise revolution’.

The 2016 Clia Cruise Conference will be held in Southampton on May 18-20 and will include a visit on Royal Caribbean International’s newest ship, Harmony of the Seas.

Delegates will also have the chance to see P&O Cruises’ Ventura.

Andy Harmer, director of Clia UK & Ireland, said: “The 2016 Clia conference will be a celebration of cruise under the theme ‘Join the Cruise Revolution’.

“Our first conference took place in 2007, when our membership ?was 750 agencies and 21 lines. We now have 3,400 travel agency members and 51 lines.

“This not only demonstrates cruise’s growth, but also how it has diversified and is being embraced by a wider community.”

Harmer said the conference, of which Travel Weekly is once again media partner, would showcase the industry’s growth over the past decade, as well as looking ahead.

Agents also have the opportunity to take part in a special pre-conference sales & communications masterclass taking place on board MSC Splendida on Tuesday May 17. The visit will also include a tour of the ship and lunch.

Tickets for the conference go on sale on November 5.
