Questions and Answers: Bermuda

We asked Prestige Holidays what questions are most frequently asked by people wanting to book a holiday to Bermuda. Here are some of their replies:

What are the different types of accommodation on offer? There is a good variety of accommodation on Bermuda, ranging from large hotels, smaller hotels and guest houses, to cottage colonies and self-catering apartments, so you can choose a big property with all the facilities, or somewhere more private and secluded to get away from it all.

Is Bermuda child friendly? Bermuda is a good place to take children, as it is very safe with fantastic beaches and reliable weather. Quite a few of the hotels also offer child discounts and excellent children’s facilities, such as kiddies clubs and entertainment programmes.

What is there to do in Bermuda? There are a number of attractions, such as the crystal caves and the maritime museum and, for the energetic, there is a wide range of sporting activities on offer, including golf, horse riding, tennis, watersports, game fishing and walking.

What about nightlife? Bermuda isn’t a very big nightlife destination, though there are some discos and late bars in Hamilton. Some of the hotels also provide an evening entertainment programme.

What about transport? You can’t hire cars on Bermuda so methods of getting around are by moped, ferry, bicycle, bus, or on foot – following the route of the lovely old disused railway. If people are nervous about using a moped then we recommend the buses – the public service is very reliable and efficient.

How expensive is it to eat out? Prices in Bermuda are on a par with London. You can find a few cheap burger restaurants, but if you want to try the local cuisine, opt for the seafood platters, fish chowder and chicken dishes. The portions are enormous – one between two is often enough – so you get excellent value for money.
