The Travel TechnologyInitiative is planning to bring out a new set of standards to make it easier to sell package holidays on the Internet. The organisation is working on an application which will allow data tobe mixed with text and graphics which will speed up the process of selecting packages, checkingavailability and making the booking.



n amadeus sets phone link-up launch date



Amadeus will launchWireless TravelManagement for frequent fliers with mobile phonecompany Ericsson at the end of this year. Theservice will allow business travellers to book andcancel flights, check timetables and availability of flights on Amadeus, via Ericsson’s new Internet-enabled mobile phone, a personal digital assistant or handheld computer.



n unitel guide ranks phonecard benefits



Phonecard provider Unitel has written a 10-point guide, free to travel agents, on how to choose the right phonecard. It includes a section on how to test the supplier’s ability to handle high volumes of calls and tailor its product to clients’ requirements, its ease of use, the range of extra functions it can support such as voice mail and weather information lines, and the supplier’s approach to customer service.
