Hays Travel launches Santa-based social campaign

Hays Travel branches around the country are getting into the festive spirit as the agency chain rekindles last year’s #HaysHolidaySleigh social media campaign.

Helen Hays, digital marketing executive at Hays Travel, is ?hoping to smash the level of social media interaction achieved by last year’s campaign when more than 30,000 customers tweeted to help Santa find his reindeer lost in Sunderland.

The two-day campaign launches on Twitter on today, giving customers the chance to win prizes including a family holiday to Lapland.

Staff across Hays’ 135 shops are being encouraged to get involved and each store has been given a Facebook ad to boost interactions in their local area.

Last year’s campaign was focused around the northeast of England but for the first time Hays South, formerly Bath Travel, is getting involved in the campaign.

Helen Hays said: “It’s exciting and last year was a great success. We had amazing interaction with more than 30,000 tweets. We were also trending on Twitter for six hours across the two days.”

She said the business saw an uplift in enquiries to Lapland, the main prize being offered.

Social media will be a theme of the Hays Travel Independence Group overseas conference in Portugal this month. It will focus on improving customer service and managing reputation online.
