Help us to help you give something back to your local community

After the resounding success of the first Bourne Community Champions initiative in 2014, Travel Weekly has once again teamed up with Bourne Leisure to help travel agents who give back to their local communities.

Whether it’s taking part in local events, supporting charities or helping with community projects, we want to hear more fantastic stories about what you do in the villages, town and cities you work in.

Bourne Community Champions is open to all agents, regardless of which channel you work in and whether you are one-man band or part of a regional or national agency.

All the entries will be assessed by a panel of judges, with three runners-up receiving £100 towards their chosen projects, and the overall winner receiving:

  • Assistance from Bourne Leisure’s experienced community support team with the winning project.
  • A two-page feature in Travel Weekly about the project
  • A holiday for up to four people at one of Bourne Leisure’s properties or resorts – either Butlins, Haven or Warner Leisure Hotels
  • Tickets for two people to join Bourne Leisure at the Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards in July.

Bourne Community Champions group 2014Last year’s winner was the Lincolnshire Co-operative, whose entry focused on a project to restore the nature reserve at the Burgh Angling Society in Farlesthorpe.

After winning the competition, four agents from Lincolnshire Co-op were joined by the Bourne community team and staff from head office to carry out vital work on the project (pictured).

Lucy Huxley, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly Group, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Bourne Leisure for the second annual Bourne Community Champions initiative.

“Bourne Leisure demonstrated last year how it understands the importance of supporting local communities, and I can’t wait to read through this year’s entries as we help our winners and runners-up make a real difference.”

How to enter

You need to tell us in no more than 100 words about your chosen project and why you or your business deserves to be named the overall Bourne Community Champion and receive support to help you realise your aim. No project is too small, so make sure you enter.

How: Entries can be submitted via the dedicated Facebook page at facebook.com/bourne.champs or by email to trade.sales@bourne-leisure.co.uk

The judging panel will include a member of Bourne Leisure’s Charity Team and Lucy Huxley, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly. The judges’ decision will be final.
