Clia unveils new river cruise tools

Clia UK and Ireland is introducing two new tools to help agents maximise their river cruise sales.

The association has created the My Clia River Cruise Club – a dedicated area on its website for those interested in making more river bookings.

Andy Harmer, director of Clia UK and Ireland, said: “Agents will be able to join the club on the website where there will be a dedicated section pulling together river cruise news, webinars, special offers and in depth content.

“It will be useful for those who are already selling river cruise and those wanting to start selling for the first time.

“It will filter all river cruise news and information through to club members.

“It’s the first of its kind and we will be looking to roll it out to other cruise sectors over time.”

The club will launch early 2016 and agents who join it will get access to exclusive offers.

Clia is also introducing new fact sheets to help agents learn more about the river cruise experience.

Harmer said the new additions to the Toolbox section of the site would help agents “talk about the customer experience”.

“The factsheets are about key embarkation ports, the nearby airports and the distance to airports,” he said. “It will also reflect some of the key attractions guests will see along the rivers.”

The factsheets will be live on the Clia website by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, Clia is also launching its travel agent programme in France this week.

Harmer will oversee the roll out of the programme in Europe, with plans to launch a Spanish equivalent followed by other European versions.
