THE future privatisation of OlympicAirways is expected to involve British Airways.
The state-owned Greek carrier is due to start the process later this year in an attempt to become more competitive.
BA’s consulting arm Speedwing is currently talking to Olympic about the sell-off.
The Greek government is expected to ask for airlines to invest in the company, as well as financial institutions, as part of the privatisation.
BA refused to comment on any Olympic plans.
However, if its proposals for Olympic follows past European tie-ups then BA would be expected to take some sort of stake as it has done with Iberia and is understood to be considering for LOT Polish Airlines.
Olympic does not belong to any global alliances, but wants a partnership by the end of the year to improve its network and profitability.
This will make it attractive to potential investors.
