Just a Drop founder Jeffery nominated for social change award

SBODY

Former WTM chairman and Just a Drop founder Fiona Jeffery has been shortlisted for an award honouring those committed to making a positive impact on society.

The Social Change Awards are organised by the Directory of Social Change, and Jeffery has been nominated for the Influencer Award for her work with water aid charity Just a Drop and in responsible tourism.

The DSC says the Influencer Award is for “individuals that really know which buttons to press to make things happen – from campaigning for a change in law to bringing together different groups to achieve what might have seemed impossible”.

The organisation added: “We want to acknowledge the determination and hard work required to communicate clearly, put forth a persuasive argument and win people over to bring about positive change.”

Jeffery founded Just a Drop in 1998 in an attempt to provide clean water for communities around the world.

She has also been nominated for her commitment to responsible tourism, which included the introduction of World Responsible Tourism Day during WTM.

The awards are voted for by the public and polling closes at noon on Monday, November 23. The winner will be announced at a ceremony at London’s Hotel Russell on December 7.
