Crystal Cruises puts Ordever in charge of river cruise

Long-standing Crystal Cruises UK-based international boss, Philip Ordever, is moving to head the luxury line’s new river cruise venture.

Ordever, vice president of international sales and marketing, is relocating to Amsterdam as vice president and managing director for Crystal River Cruises.

He will be responsible for developing strategy and managing the key sales and marketing functions for the new brand. Travel industry veteran, Helen Beck, is named as his successor as the new vice president of international sales and marketing.

Ordever will report to chief operating officer, Thomas Mazloum, and senior vice president of marketing and sales, Carmen Roig.

Beck will assume responsibility for driving international sales and marketing initiatives and managing Crystal’s global sales managers. She will report to Roig.

With 30 years of travel industry experience and fluency in French, German and Spanish, Beck has been responsible for managing more than 16 international representatives in more than 40 countries. She starts with Crystal on February 2.

Crystal chief executive and president, Edie Rodriguez, said: “In his 12 years with Crystal, Phillip has had great success in his business initiatives, and I am confident that he will excel in this significant role for the highly anticipated Crystal River Cruises.

“We are also grateful to have such a talented individual as Helen lead our international sales and marketing efforts. Her expertise in this field will be invaluable as we launch our new luxury travel experiences.”
