Two gunmen reportedly fired on a tourist bus near the Giza pyramids in Cairo this morning. Reports suggest no one was hurt.

The men drew up on a motorcycle and opened fire as tourists boarded a bus on Thursday. News agency Reuters reported the attack took place at a hotel on a road leading to the pyramids.

Reuters reported one gunman was arrested at the scene and security forces surrounded the other in another part of Cairo.

Sky News reported officials saying there had been damage to the facade of the Three Pyramids Hotel near Giza.

Foreign Office advice on travel to Egypt remained unchanged this morning.

There have been no UK flights to the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh since November following the apparent terror attack on a Russian tourist jet at the end of October.

But there is no advice against travel to Cairo and the Foreign Office points out about 900,000 UK visitors travel to Egypt each year without mishap.
