Belmond focuses on bucket list experiences

Belmond has created a guide to must do experiences for 2016.

The guide, entitled The List, showcases locations and sights in a month by month check list of what it calls the world’s greatest journeys.

For January  voluntourism in Myanmar is the focus as Belmond celebrates two decades of travel to the region since the launch of luxury river cruiser Belmond Road to Mandalay in 1996.

Guests are offered an insight into local life through a range of social, health and welfare volunteering projects that give back to the native communities.

In February the focus shifts to Brazil’s world-famous Rio Carnival. Belmond Copacabana Palace’s Magic Ball will be Olympia-themed paying homage to the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympics by taking revellers on a journey through old Greece where it all began.

Guests will be invited to be a writer-in-residence at Belmond El Encanto in Santa Barbara to create a screenplay in March and April is Italy-themed with bespoke experiences on offer at the brand’s Italian hotels.

Other months in the List will focus on St Petersburg, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and Botswana among others.

Full details of The List will be unveiled as the year progresses but for more go to belmond.com/thelist and #Belmond2016.
