n Kendell airlines embarks on expansion drive



Kendell Airlines has announced a major expansion plan to double its size and become Australia’s third largest airline, behind Qantas and Ansett. The carrier has ordered12 Canadair CRJ200 regional jet aircraft, the first of which is due to be delivered in September. The carrier will beginoperating a number of new routes including Melbourne to Launceston in Tasmania in November and Melbourne to Hobart in January 2000.



n qantas sets june date for terminal reopening



Qantas will open its renovated Sydney domestic terminal on June 28 after a £104m extension. The terminal will be six times its original size to cope with a predicted increase of passengers. During the Olympics, the airline expects to



handle more than 16,000 passenger departures a day, nearly double the current figure.



n commission appoints new marketing manager



The Australian Tourism Commission has appointed Glenn Myatt to the position of consumer marketing manager, Europe, South Africa and MiddleEast. The positionhas remained empty since Pia Byrne vacated theposition two years ago. Myatt takes up the position inLondon on June 7. He has been working in HongKong since March 1995 as consumer marketing manager, Asia.
