MSC Cruises suspends calls to Turkey

MSC Cruises today followed Crystal Cruises and suspended calls into Turkey.

The line said the move to suspend its calls in Turkish ports would be in place “until further notice”.

MSC Cruises said: “This decision was taken by the company amid growing concerns by guests as a result of the recent tragic events in Istanbul.”

The decision will impact MSC Magnifica’s itinerary from Venice starting on March 29.

Weekly calls in Istanbul and Izmir will be replaced by calls in Athens and Mykonos “for the time being”.

At least eight German tourists were among 10 people killed in a suicide bomb attack in Istanbul last week.

Crystal dropped calls into Istanbul and Kusadasi by Crystal Symphony on April 24 and May 1 sailings due to security concerns.
