CADOGAN is to drop its Cyprus programme at the end of the year, blaming poor business to the island and high operating costs.
Instead, the operator will introduce the Canary Islands for winter 1999/2000 in addition to Morocco as its main winter-sun destination.
Cadogan managing director Gary David said:”Our Cyprus business has been getting smaller and smaller and we have found the product relatively expensive.
“We have also found it hard to compete as a scheduled operator with the charter outfits that fly there.”
He said he felt the company had not worked as closely as it could have done with the Cyprus Tourist Board to promote its holidays.
“The programme sort of slipped,” said David.
“We are moving into the Canary Islands in a big way for the next brochure.
“We have decided on this course of action because we have not got a strong winter-sun destination.”
