Miles Morgan aims to create southwest’s largest agency

Miles Morgan Travel is hoping to create the highest-turnover independent high street travel agency in the southwest by moving World Market Travel to new premises.

The miniple bought World Market Travel in Bath, a Kuoni partner store, in August last year.

It has now revealed plans to relocate the 30-year-old agency to larger premises next door in May.

The new offices will be three times bigger, allowing the agency to become the largest and first of Morgan’s 14 branches to have two foreign exchange desks and a dedicated cruise area.

The shop will still have an upstairs VIP lounge and will add an extra consultant’s desk. It will take on four new staff, taking the total to 10.

The fascia will not feature the Kuoni name but will have the World Market Travel and Miles Morgan Travel brands over the door. The Kuoni partnership will remain and the operator’s name will appear in the window.

Morgan said: “World Market Travel has heritage and we don’t want to get rid of that name.

“The shop has been incredibly successful since we bought it and we want to grow the business,
not throw the baby out with the bath water.

“The aim is to make it the southwest’s biggest high street agency. There is a tremendous opportunity for growth in Bath. There are a lot of tourists so we are hoping to get walk-ins, passing trade as well as existing clients.”

He also hopes to capitalise on pent-up demand in the city for a specialist cruise agency.

“The city has affluent customers. World Market Travel is strong on long-haul and tailor-made but not as strong on cruise.”

Morgan said there were also plans for a 15th store this summer.
