Royal Caribbean appoints Weetman to key trade sales role

Royal Caribbean International has recruited Sarah Weetman as its new head of retail.

It was announced last week that Weetman was leaving All Leisure Group where she has been head of trade sales for the past three years. She will join the Royal Caribbean sales team in June, reporting into director of sales Ben Bouldin.

The news was announced this morning as Royal Caribbean prepared to host hundreds of travel agents onboard new vessel Ovation of the Seas in Southampton today.

A spokeswoman for Royal Caribbean said Weetman would “play a key role in the sales leadership in the UK and Ireland”.

”Sarah brings with her a wealth of experience in travel and close working relationships with the UK’s leading independent travel operators,” she said.

Weetman’s appointment comes the departure of Alexander Johnson, who left in early February.

Also new to the Royal sales team is former Virgin Holidays cruise boss John Wilson, who has taken up the new role of head of consumer outreach.

Wilson’s responsibilities include pushing cruise before a ‘new to cruise’ audience and managing the customer loyal programme, the Crown and Anchor Society.
