Board works on agents’ training plan

THE new UKhead of South African Tourism is planning to introduce a travel agents correspondence course to boost product knowledge.

Walter Damman, who previously worked as general manager for SAT in Germany, is to take on the role covering the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia on June 1. His appointment follows a shake-up at London office. The course will include details of the country’s geography, history, culture and destinations.

A booklet will be available to agents who are expected to study the information and then submit answers to a series of questions. Those who pass the course will be awarded a certificate.

Damman will also be looking at a UKversion of a SAT Internet site, which will have trade and consumer information.

A fee for the course has not been yet been decided.
