n Condor service is an early bird
Channel Islands operator Condor Ferries plans to bring its new passenger/freight roll-on, roll-off ferry into service two monthsearlier than scheduled, from November 1. The vessel, which will sail from Portsmouth to the Channel Islands, has been ordered as a back-up for the company’s fast ferries, Condor Vitesse and Condor Express. Incommon with all fast ferries, these are unable to operate in waves above three metres.
n Emeraude fast to France
French ferry operator Emeraude Line has launched a new fast ferry linking Jersey and Guernsey with France. The £6mcatamaran Solidor 4 has capacity for 302 passengers and 40 cars. It entered service this month. The French ferry operator has also launched a new 306-passengercatamaran between Jersey and Sark and Jersey and the ports of Carteret and Granville in France.
n CityFlyer high five on saturdays
CityFlyer is operating a new Saturday service from Gatwick to Jersey until September 25, taking frequency to five times a day. It has four flights daily to each island the rest of the week.
n aurigny takes guernsey route
Channel Islands airline Aurigny is launching its first major route on June 4, when it takes over the Stansted-Guernseyservice from KLM UK. Aurigny is also replacing the UK/Dutch carrieron the Guernsey-Amsterdam service from July. Aurigny willoperate a thrice-daily service to Stansted, with two flights at the weekend, using a 33-seat Saab 340 with two-class service. The same aircraft will operate the daily service to the Dutch capital. Fares start from £48 return plus passenger service charge and tax.
