P&O Cruises and Cunard parent company Carnival UK is bringing together its ship operations and technical departments to create a single organisation in Hamburg with sister company Costa Group.
Some work from this shared maritime team will be consolidated in Southampton and some in Germany in a phased operation which will take around nine months to complete.
A spokesman said: “This move will affect up to approximately 50 people out of more than 1,000 staff who are based in Carnival House in Southampton.
“All other departments covering both brands, including commercial, sales, marketing, finance and IT are unaffected.”
