Eurosites adds flydrive option to 2000 offers

CAMPING holiday specialist Eurosites has introduced a flydrive option in its Summer 2000 brochure.

The initiative is part of a Eurosites drive to increase its appeal to potential customers who may have been put off camping holidays in the past because of the long drives involved.

The operator claims it is the first in its market to offer a full service allowing customers to book all holiday elements, including scheduled flights from the UK, car hire and accommodation.

The service will be available throughout the season but head of Eurosites Richard Allen expects sales of flydrive to be at their height in the shoulder period. “Our product peaks very much in the UK school holiday period of July and August. The option to fly will attract a slightly different customer taking their second holiday in low season. It means campsite holidays in countries such as Italy and Spain become attractive as seven-day holiday destinations,” said Allen.

Based on scheduled British Airways services, flights will be restricted to Italy and Spain initially but are likely to be extended to the south of France later in the year. Prices lead in at £519 for a seven-night flydrive at el Delfin Verde, Costa Brava. The package is based on two people sharing a tent and includes car hire.

Also new in the millennium brochure is the Prima option – for an extra £30 in peak season and £20 off-season customers can choose to upgrade their accommodation to include luxuries such as a microwave, hairdryer, radio/cassette CD player and barbecue.

Prices start at £99 for a holiday for up to six people, based on a seven-night tent holiday at Le Littoral, Vendee, in France arriving May 3 2000.
