EasyJet reports passengers numbers up despite strike disruption

Heightened levels of flight cancellations affected easyJet last month.

The budget airline today revealed that it suffered from 852 cancelled flights against 487 in June 2015.

The disclosure came as easyJet reported a 5.8% increase in passenger carryings to 6.9 million.

The load factor rose by 1.4 percentage points to 94.1%.

The figures gave the airline a rolling annual passenger total of 71.8 million, a rise of 7.1% year-on-year.

Airlines across Europe have been lobbying to overcome a series of strikes by French air traffic controllers.

The latest industrial action this week saw more than 200 flights being cancelled, causing disruption to more than 200,000 passengers, according to lobby group Airlines for Europe (A4E).
