BA’s roll-out helps save the bacon

BRITISH Airways has finally come up with an answer to all those critics of airline food – the bacon butty.

Those suspicious hot tin-foil packages containing grey and brown breakfasts are being thrown in the bin to be replaced with custom-made BA baguettes.

BA tells Backchat the rolls even retain moisture at altitude so they don’t go stale.

Passengers on London-Manchester routes will get the goodies first as BA doles out 1,600 of the hot bacon butties each morning.

Veggies are also being catered for. Presumably they get a cheese, mushroom and tomato baguette without the bacon. Customers with a more delicate stomach will be offered fancy pastries and croissants in the future.

Sadly, BA cannot claim it was first in the bacon steaks.

Virgin Sun has bacon rolls, along with hot dogs and ice cream, on holiday flights.

n GB Airways’ boast of industry-leading leg-room in its aircraft was put to the test last week.

The world’s tallest man, Radouan Charbib – who comes in at a skyscraping 7ft 8ins – was squeezed on board the BA franchise airline to fly to Tunisia for a Guinness Book of World Records ceremony.
