A seven-day cabin crew strike at the end of July cost Air France around €90 million, the airline disclosed today.
Parent company Air France KLM reported a 0.6% decline in July passenger carryings to 7.5 million with a reduced load factor of 88.5%.
The carrier said that activity in the month was impacted by the cabin crew strike at Air France.
This compounded a “weak supply-demand balance in the different regions of the network and soft local flows to France”.
Long haul passenger carryings fell by 0.9% to 2.46 million while short and medium haul numbers were down by 0.4% to 5.08 million.
Low cost subsidiary Transavia saw a 23.1% increase in year-on-year carryings to 1.6 million driven by increased capacity in France and expansion of a base in Munich.
