Freak Crete ‘tornado’ caught on film [Video]

A British holidaymaker in Crete captured footage of a freak storm which struck Heraklion yesterday.

Scott Musson was staying at the Stella Palace Hotel with his family and was out for a walk when heavy rains and winds from the heavy storm struck.

His video on YouTube shows how he took shelter when parasols and deckchairs were thrown around by the winds.

The aftermath of the storm is also visible, with debris strewn across the beachfront road he had just been walking along.

Accompanying the video, he wrote: “This is what we encountered on our family holiday to Crete, myself and brother in law got trapped in this while my wife and two daughters and other family members were further down the road only being sheltered by a small wall with nowhere to go and did not expect this to happen.”
