BA embarks on new executive sales drive

BRITISH Airways has reassured agents that its latest sales drive is not just another step on the road to direct-sell.

Under the new initiative, passengers have to join BA’s Executive Club frequent flyer scheme to be entitled to buy two tickets for the price of one.

Head of UK and Ireland sales Tiffany Hall denied the clause was designed to allow the airline more access to clients’ details for direct marketing purposes.

“Executive Club members are told they can call to book tickets or contact their agents,” she said. “The Executive Club condition means we can easily get offers out to passengers.”

The new sales promotion allows passengers buying a Club World, First Class or Concorde ticket to purchase two subsequent tickets at half price.

The offer is valid for any class of travel to any of BA’s destinations. The first premium-priced ticket must be used by July 31 with the companion travel offer complete by October 30.
