An expanded code-share pact by Qatar Airways with British Airways will cover UK regional connections to Heathrow.
The agreement will now cover BA domestic flights including Aberdeen, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Leeds/Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle.
Qatar Airways will also code-share on a number of short-haul routes from Heathrow including Dublin, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Luxembourg, Basel, Bilbao, Malaga, Ibiza, Palma, Lisbon, Faro and Billund.
The deal follows BA and Qatar Airways – a shareholder in the UK carrier’s parent International Airlines Group – starting a joint business agreement between Heathrow and Doha.
Qatar Airways group chief executive Akbar Al Baker said: “Following the recent news of our joint business agreement with British Airways, we are pleased to further strengthen our relationship with the announcement of these additional code-share flights across Europe, which will enhance our commercial co-operation and strengthen our competitive offering in the market.”
The joint business arrangement started yesterday (Sunday) with BA running a daily service to the Gulf state.
