PAUL Chandler, the chairman of the Association of Independent Tour Operators and managing director of the Travel Club of Upminster, has acquired London-based Austria Travel for an undisclosed sum.
The deal will give Chandler his first foothold in the retail market. His own tour operation is exclusively direct sell. “We have always enjoyed a good relationship with Austria Travel as we are both founder AITOmembers and we have always featured Austria.”
The operation, which was founded by the Anglo-Austrian Society, carries about 6,000 passengers a year to Austria, Budapest and Prague.
