    Singapore’s Foodie Feasts

Eating is Singapore’s favourite pastime. If you appreciate a good meal, there’s a cuisine for every taste and budget. Start with popular street food that reflects our many cultures. Proceed to local restaurants for an authentic taste of iconic dishes, and finally, graduate to Michelin-starred establishments for fi ne dining. There has never been a better time to experience the city’s culinary scene as it continues to both excite and innovate.

Surrounded by the dynamic cultures of Southeast Asia, with all their regional culinary nuances, Singapore has drawn from these influences to form an array of eating experiences, from Chinese to Malaysian and Indian, each with its unique aroma and flavour.

HAL comp 2The best way to gain insights into local gastronomic tastes is to visit the hawker centres. Lau Pa Sat Market, Maxwell Food Centre in Chinatown or Makansutra Glutton’s by the Bay are some of the nation’s most popular spots. Here you can try a myriad of mouth-watering local dishes such as Hainanese chicken rice, chilli crab, or the rich spicy noodle soup ‘laksa’.

The launch of Singapore’s inaugural Michelin Guide in July this year has seen hawker stalls awarded stars alongside local and celebrity chefs.

And no visit would be complete without a Singapore Sling, the cocktail forever associated with the Long Bar at Raffles Hotel. Or try more contemporary cocktails in the many vibrant roof-top bars such as 1-Altitude, LeVel.33 or Ce La Vi, offering spectacular views over the night time skyline and showing off Singapore’s cosmopolitan glamour.
