A DETAILED strategy for the new Central European Countries Travel Association will be worked out at a meeting of the five founder members during World Travel Market in November.
CECTA – which includes the tourist offices of Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria – aims to increase business and leisure travel to member countries.
“We plan to organise a sector debate involving key government officials in London for WTM,” said Terry Coates, partner in Oxford-based G&T Consultants, the co-ordinato of CECTA.
“It will be the association’s first major exercise. Among subjects covered will be the countries’ emerging economies, their business prospects and travel trends.”
Coates added: “We’ve had a lot of calls from travel agents since the CECTA launch was announced in Travel Weekly two months ago, so there’s clearly a need for the countries to get together.”
CECTA also also plans to launch n Internet site of member countries targeted specifically at the UK market.
