Cuba: What’s New

The resorts of Jibacoa and Cayo Coco have been introduced in Cosmos’ new Tropical Paradise brochure valid from November ’99. A 13-night holiday at the new Superclubs Breezes Jibacoa leads in at £1,239 based on a May 2000 departure.

Airtours has dropped all non all-inclusive hotels from its beach programme to Varadero due to lack of demand. The summer 99 Far and Away brochure features a total of 11all-inclusive properties in Varadero including the new Sandals Beaches Varadero.

Havanatour UK launches its first brochure for sale through travel agents this month. The company, which is the UK division of one of Cuba’s leading ground handlers, is offering tailormade and fully inclusive packages, including city breaks, beach stays, coach tours and a range of special interest activities.

New for the summer 2000 edition of First Choice’s Tropical brochure is a seven-day Cuba National Tour taking in Havana, Ciego de Avila, the Bay of Pigs, Trinidad, Santa Clara and Camaguey. The tour is followed by a week in the resort of Guardalavaca. Prices for the 14-night package lead in at £899. The operator will also continue to offer its Cuba WestTour.

Cox and Kings has reduced the lead-in price for its Cuban Experience tour from £865 in 1998 to £845 for 1999. This includes return flights, accommodation and excursions. The eight-night tour takes in Havana, the Vinales Valley and Trinidad, with optional extensions to Santiago, Cayo Largo, Varadero and Mexico.

Hayes and Jarvis has added two new Cuban resorts to its 1999/2000 Worldwide brochure. The operator will be featuring the new Superclubs Breezes Jibacoa, located between Havana and Varadero, and two properties on the offshore island of Cayo Coco. Also new is Sandals Beaches Varadero.

Panorama Holidays is offering a Dine Around deal at three Sol Melia properties in Varadero. The offer allows half-board or fullboard guests staying at the Melia Las Americas, the Melia Varadero or the Sol Club Palmeras to dine at any of the hotels’ 12 restaurants.

Sunworld has added the Hotel Melia Rio de Oro in Guardalavaca to its line-up for winter 1999/2000. Also new is a twin centre option combining Havana and Varadero. Lead in price is £449 for seven nights all-inclusive.
