SWISSAIR is developing an agents’ page on its Internet site to give retailers more advice on schedules and on-line bookings.
Marketing manager Wayne Miller said the new site should be operational by the end of the month and will be called news@swissair.
“We intend to have competitions, promotions and news on the site and we shall also have offers for agents,” Miller said.
Swissair is also considering holding auctions on its Internet site to try and sell last-minute tickets. The airline admits it only takes small number of bookings over the Internet, but is determined to increase sales by improving access to its site.
The goal may prove easier in the UK, as EasyJet, which is setting up a Swiss base, has found it difficult to convince customers in Switzerland to book on-line.
n Swissair and its Qualiflyer partners are considering opening a group city ticket office at the Swiss centre in Leicester Square, central London.
The office is currently used only by Swissair, Crossair, Austrian Airlines, Lauda Air and Delta Air Lines. Swissair general manager UK and Ireland Kirk Albrow said a decision on the ticket office would be made when the group moved sales and marketing and administration staff into a joint office by the end of the year.
He denied the move will mean redundancies in individual airline departments as the aim was to bring existing staff together to improvecommunications.
