COOK AVIATION TEAM


Thomas Cook UK Tour Operations has confirmed the structure of its aviation team following the appointment of Glenn Chip as aviation director UK tour operations. George Blundell-Pound will continue as commercial director reporting to managing director Thomas Cook UK Airline Operations, Terry Soult. Blundell-Pound will also continue to provide consultative support Chip for long-haul operation Golden Lion. Ian Smith has been appointed aviation operations director.


BITOA CONVENTION


The British Incoming Tour Operators Association is to hold it 2000 convention and workshop in Belfast. The event, titled A New Beginning, will take place between February 10 and 12 at the Belfast Hilton. BITOA is expecting 300 delegates to attend.

Budget Rent A Car has struck a deal with Pegasus Systems to become its exclusive car-rental partner on its interactive Internet site, TravelWeb.com. In turn, TravelWeb. com will be the exclusive on-line hotel and air reservation provider featured on Budget’s Web site, www.drivebudget.com


NCL SWITCH SUCCESS


Norwegian Cruise Line claims a decision to reposition its ships from the Caribbean to Scandinavia, the Baltic and Alaska has helped yields. Head of sales for the UK and Continental Europe, Nick Sharps, said the company’s average selling price to UK customers was now ú1,900, compared to ú1,275 at this time last year. Meanwhile, NCL claims it has sold 70% of its 1999 capacity compared to 62% at this time last year.
