Airport fraud unit ‘more than helpful’

Your article on ABTAand the Heathrow-based airline-ticket fraud squad, (Travel Weekly April 5), creates a misleading view of the association’s relationship with the police in general, and the Heathrow Unit in particular.

To put the record straight, we enjoy an excellent working relationship with Heathrow police and co-operate with them regularly, as they do with us.

I have always stressed the importance of members reporting all crime to both the police and ourselves.

How else can action be taken and the resources be assigned to tackle the problem?

While we were disappointed with the specific case highlighted, we have never found the unit to be other than helpful and would not want anyone to be under the false impression that ABTAfeels the need to “attack” the fraud unit.
