Arabian Tower to celebrate seafaring past

THE Arabian Tower Burj Al Arab looks set to become the icon for Dubai when it opens at the Jumeirah Beach Resort this autumn.

Built in the shape of a billowing sail and designed to commemorate the emirate’s seafaring heritage, the 202 all-suite property, constructed on a man-made island 300 metres from the beach, will be 28 floors and 321 metres high, the tallest standalone hotel structure in the world.

Continuing the nautical theme of the adjacent, wave-shaped Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and linked to the mainland by road bridge, the Arabian Tower will have a triangular atrium, with a health suite on the 18th floor and a grand ballroom on the 28th floor.

Rooms will have digital phones, interactive televisions and Internet access. Restaurants include the Al Muntaha Skyview Restaurant on the 27th floor, and the Al Mahara Seafood Undersea Restaurant.

The Arabian Tower will be preceded by the nearby Wild Wadi Aqua Park, opening in July. The water entertainment complex will include features such as uphill rollercoasters, the highest downhill speed slide outside the US, the Lazy River ride, waterfalls, a wave pool, picnic areas, and two food and beverage outlets.
