Dubai’s tallest takes conference plaudits


The 1999 Arabian Travel Market will be staged in halls 5, 5A, 6 and 7 of the Dubai World Trade Centre, the landmark exhibition and office complex on Sheikh Zayed Road. The Centre, Dubai’s tallest building at 39 storeys high, is next to the Dubai Hilton and linked by underpass to the Crowne Plaza. ATM delegates staying at some downtown properties will be able to use shuttle bus services to the venue. A taxi ride from downtown costs less than £3. Facilities in the halls are limited to three bar and restaurant areas, while the World Trade Centre has a newsagent, travel agency, business services, a cafe and a roof top restaurant.


Middle East airlines cuts round-trip fares


Lebanese flag carrier Middle East Airlines has reduced special round-trip economy-class fares on its five flights a week between Heathrow and Beirut from ú299 to ú270, exclusive of taxes. Available for travel during the rest of April, the fare requires a Saturday night stay.


Sol Melia plans loyalty club launch


Spain’s Sol Melia hotel group will mark its first appearance at the Arabian Travel Market by launching a scheme exclusive to its loyalty club members. The new Royal Service will offer extras such as late departure, 24hr room service, continental breakfast in a private lounge, free newspapers, and butler service.
